Introduction of 4v4 League:

Played over the summer this league brings the opportunity to play in a competitive 4v4 league on a team that practices 4 times (2x on ice, 2x off ice) and plays at least 1 game per week. Teams consist of 8 players plus a goaltender and is open to boys and girls throughout all divisions. Each ice and off-ice session are team practices coached by AAA coaches. Players will receive ample opportunity to improve their individual skills as well as their team play throughout the season. To complete the program we will provide video review once a week breaking down games and selected practice sessions visually to provide feedback.

Divisions, Skill Environment, and Team Placement:

Divisions:

U10: Birth year 2010 and younger.

U12: Birth year 2008/2009.

U14+: Birth year 2007 and older (U14/U16)

Skill Environment:

This program is open to Boys and Girls currently playing A/AA/AAA. Bring your compete and you will not only have fun, we will make you a better players too. Be around friends that have the same interests and drive as yourself.

Team Placement:

Players will be placed on teams based on their age, skill, and experience. Our goal is to create divisions with teams of equal skill to ensure good competitions in a fun motivational environment. With all that being said, we will try to honor placement requests as long we can maintain an equally balanced lineup throughout all teams.

Practice Structure:

On Ice:

Each team will have two practice slots per week. One practice per week will be dedicated to work on a single, multiple, or all five fundamentals. (skating, passing, stick-handling, shooting, and body contact). The second practice will be used for game like situational drills and positional team play. All practices will be age appropriate and follow a progression based schedule to ensure improvement, challenge for every participant.

Dryland:

Each team will have two off-ice practices per week, each one hour session will be attached to either before or immediately after the teams on ice practice. Each week sessions will rotate between agility & speed and Conditioning & strength. Off-ice sessions also will be structured age appropriate on a progression based schedule with a set of individual and team goals.

Game Play:

Format:

Each team will have at least one game a week. The format of the games will be buzzer style with a running clock, no offside or icing, and tag ups after a score or a frozen puck. We will play 4v4 at 2x27 minutes half with a  5min warmup. Tied games will result in 7puck shootout race, the winner of the tie breaker will be awarded 1 goal to be added to the final score. Each team will have a guest coach assigned that will help manage the game. The game is encouraged to be played competitively but this is a no contact/hitting league and excessive physical play or any other fouls will be enforced by penalty shots.

Video Review:

Game Review:

All games will be recorded and coaches will review the previous games once a week with the team. The review session will be interactive encouraging player participation in analyzing 5 to 10 different situations from the previous game. Talking points during the review will incorporate good plays, assess different options, discuss breakdowns. Visualization is a great tool and those exercises should help players to analyze their own games when everyone is going back to their fall season teams.

Practice Video Reviews:

We will also record a number of practices (On-ice and Dryland) and use that footage to provide individual players feedback (via email or during a private coach/player meeting) on their progress, identify areas in which improvement can be made. We will provide at least 2 feedback sessions throughout the season. The plan is to provide the first at the beginning and at least a final review after the season completes.
