What is Buzzer Hockey?
History:
About 7 years ago we started playing "Buzzer Hockey" Sundays at 7am at McFetridge as a private small group to provide a similar environment to pond hockey. Living in an urban area it is hard to find pond hockey opportunities and "Buzzer Hockey" became that outlet for city youth hockey players. Over the years the few friends that started went on to play for different organizations and Buzzer Hockey enabled them to come back to the camaraderie, friendship, friendly but fierce, competition that ignited the love for the game of hockey.

Format:
Buzzer Hockey is played with a running clock and line changes are indicated by a "buzzer". Line changes on both teams are "wholesale changes" which encourages the line "up next" to stay alert as a change will create puck races that can result in break aways, two vs ones, highlight back checking efforts, and incredible "robberies" by the goaltending staff . The Game flow is constant, attacking players back up and let the other team start their offensive opportunity after a goal is scored or the goalie covers the puck. Buzzer Hockey throughout all ages is a non-checking event. We encourage competition that is centered around creativity, puck skills, puck movement, and most importantly fun!. Teams and lines are assigned by The Game's coaching staff based on our assessment of the participating players. We will get it wrong from time to time and will balance teams intra game if necessarry.
